Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Hypnosis?
Derived from the Greek word for sleep (hypnos), hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation in which the subconscious mind is more accessible and able to be influenced positively and aligned with a person’s goals. Hypnosis works by first identifying the subconscious belief. Through the use of repetition, positive suggestions and visualizations, hypnosis accesses and heals the subconscious mind to help one achieve their goals. Hypnosis is truly the optimal state for problem solving; it is not a mysterious or supernatural state.
What are some examples of a hypnotic state?
Staring into a fire, passing your exit while driving, being engrossed in a good book or film, performing on stage, and competing in an athletic event are all examples of self-induced hypnotic states. The hypnotic state is commonly referred to as being “in the zone” or “in the flow”.
What should I wear?
Please dress comfortably so blood and oxygen and flow freely throughout your body.
How long is the session?
Sessions are 3 hrs long. The first 1 ½ hrs of the session is a conscious level discussion during which we review your intake form and clarify your desired outcome for the session. The second 1 ½ hrs you are in a formal state of hypnosis, deeply relaxed and ready for change.
What does it feel like to be in a hypnotic state?
Each person experiences hypnosis in their own unique way, however many report a feeling of deep relaxation and clarity. Similar to the time right before sleep. A hypnotic state is similar to a meditative state, in that you have a strong internal focus and are very relaxed. In hypnosis you are in complete control. You may find yourself ‘lost in your thoughts’, listening to the sounds of the hypnotist’s voice similar to when you are enjoying a pleasant daydream.
How will I feel after the session?
Most clients report feeling deeply relaxed after a session.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people find that one session helps them achieve their goals, and others require more than one session. Together we determine a plan for you based on your goals. Our sessions are custom-built to your needs.
What if I can’t be hypnotized?
In my experience I have never met a person who cannot be hypnotized. Some highly analytical people take longer than others to become relaxed, but they get there eventually.
